In late 2009, I decided I needed to recharge my Impro batteries, and find a group to perform with. Because, I thought, it’s all very well to swan into people’s workplaces and lives, and evangelise about Impro as a way to improve your work, health, social life and general happiness – but it’s another to regularly put yourself on the line and practice the art in public.
To my shock, I discovered that my adopted home city of Birmingham, second city in the UK, simply did not have a regular Impro group running. In the true spirit of “Yes! and” I decided then and there I would need to set up my own. Box Off Frogs was born, and has been running weekly since January 12th 2010. There are now around 50 people on the attendance list, and frequent weekend workshops too with guest tutors. Students of Box of Frogs present a free show on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at the Lamp Tavern, in Digbeth, Birmingham.

In April 2012 I co-founded Upstairs Improv – a new resident improv performing company at the Old Joint Stock Theatre.
